ZAMBEZI SAFARI

Incentive Travel Sample Itinerary

Zambezi National Park together with Victoria Falls National Park covers an area of 56,000 hectares, with the great Zambezi River forming the northern border of the Park. A wide variety of larger mammals may be found within the Park including elephant, lion, buffalo and leopard. In addition, herds of sable antelope, eland, zebra, giraffe, kudu, waterbuck and impala as well as many of the smaller species of game can be viewed. The Zambezi River is home to over is 75 species of fish and is famous for its bream and fighting tiger fish.

DAY 1

HOTEL AND ARRIVAL

After arrival the airport the group will be welcomed with lemon scented refresher towels and a “Warm African Welcome” where African ladies in traditional dress welcome guests to Victoria Falls and place a “Nyami Nyami” necklace around each guest’s neck. Following the welcome, the transfer to the Private Game Reserve will commence. On arrival a buffet lunch will be served, accompanied by local drinks, and guests will then proceed to their rooms for time at leisure to relax and unpack – here they will find Room Gifts waiting: Madiba shirts for gentlemen and traditional dress for ladies to wear to the welcome dinner, as well as a Spa voucher for each guest to use during their stay.

Guests will later reconvene to embark on a Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi River. Light snacks and local beverages will be served on board the cruise. The cruise will be followed by a “Tribes of Zambia” Royal African Welcome Boma Dinner, with additional African Delicacies and Beer Tasting Stations, and chair gifts for each guest. By way of entertainment, you may wish to choose Welcome Drummers, Face Painting, Makishi Dancers to perform during the evening, or the presence of a Sangoma (Witch Doctor).

DAY 2

MORNING GAME DRIVE WITH SURPRISE STOP IN THE BUSH

After an early morning wake-up call with refreshments served on the deck prior, guests will depart on a 4×4 Game Viewing Safari drive on the reserve, in search of the Big 5. There will be a surprise Tea and Coffee Stop in the bush, with biscuits and sweet treats included. The party will then return to the lodge for breakfast before enjoying the remainder of the morning at leisure to enjoy the pool or optional lodge activities. These activities include a Guided Walking Nature Safari, Birdwatching, fishing on the Zambezi River or Spa treatments.

GAME DRIVE, GIN & TONIC SUNDOWNER, LIGHT UP THE NIGHT DINNER

The afternoon will begin with a buffet lunch on the lodge terrace. Guests will then meet for refreshments prior to departing on an afternoon game drive. The afternoon’s safari will include an unexpected Gin & Tonic Sundowner tasting in the bush, where a selection of local gin and tonics will be available for guests to taste, accompanied by snack platters. On return to the lodge in the evening there will be a “Light up the night” buffet dinner on the deck, with a String Quartet to entertain. Candles, fairy lights and hurricane lanterns will illuminate the evening, and guests will have the opportunity to release Sky Lanterns into the night sky.

DAY 3

WALKING TOUR OF VICTORIA FALLS

There will be an early morning wakeup call with teas and coffees, prior to departing on the early morning game drive on the reserve.  After returning to the lodge for breakfast, guests will transfer to the Victoria Falls in air conditioned vehicles to enjoy a Guided Walking Tour of the Falls with specialist guides. During the transfer there will be English speaking guides on board and bottled water available.

PICNIC, ELEPHANT EXPERIENCE & HELICOPTER FLIGHT

Lunch will be a memorable Surprise Picnic Lunch and Elephant Stampede at an Elephant Camp.  The elephants mock charge the picnic lunch as a welcome, and guests will enjoy an Elephant Interaction after lunch. This very special experience will be followed by “Flight of the Angels” – a birds eye view of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.  The group will be transferred to a helicopter pad to commence a scenic helicopter flight over the Victoria Falls.

NYAMI NYAMI DINNER

That evening, guests will enjoy a “Nyami Nymai” buffet dinner on the lodge deck, with Nyami Nyami themed décor and table gifts. The Nyami Nyami, otherwise known as the Zambezi River God or Zambezi Snake spirit, is one of the most important gods of the Tonga people, and is believed to protect the Tonga people and give them sustenance in difficult times. A Marimba band will welcome the group on arrival at the lodge deck, and there will be Nyami Nymai pendants placed at each table setting for guests to take home

DAY 4

GAME DRIVE & EXCITING ACTIVITIES

After the morning’s Game Viewing Safari, the group will enjoy the remainder of the morning at leisure, with the choice to take up the optional activities. After lunch on the  terrace, guests can enjoy any of the numerous activities including a Microlight Flight, Bungee Jumping, Gorge Swing, Flying Fox, White Water Rafting, a Victoria Falls Tour, a visit to a nearby village, or shopping at the local market. The group will then meet up for refreshments prior to departing on a game drive with a Sundowner tasting in the bush.

GAME DRIVE & EXCITING ACTIVITIES

Guests will transfer directly from their game drive to the Bush Dinner site, where they will be greeted by an oasis of lights. The “Big 5 Out of Africa” Surprise Bush Dinner will be a traditional BBQ Bush dinner, with themed décor and drummers to welcome the group to the bush site. The experience will include a Shangaan Tribal Mock attack, and marshmallow roasting and liqueurs around the bush fire. In addition, there is the option to enjoy Star Gazing in the bush with telescopes, and a Southern Skies personalised star gazing map.

DAY 5

DEPARTURES

The morning will bring a final opportunity for guests to enjoy a Game Drive, to include a stop in the bush for tea, coffee, biscuits and sweet treats. After returning to the lodge for breakfast, guests will transfer to the airport in luxury air-conditioned vehicles, with bottled water on board.
